Meet Your Developer
Rick Mattaway
Mr. Mattaway’s first development was Arbor Courts in West Kendall – 284 townhomes on 18 acres. The Arbor Courts townhomes established the commitment to design detail and construction quality. Each block of Arbor Courts townhomes consists of 4 4-unit, 2-story buildings. Every townhome is a corner unit with a private, fenced courtyard. A public courtyard is located in the center of the block. Constructed of poured-in-place concrete (exterior walls, slabs, and roof), Arbor Courts was the only residential development in West Kendall to experience zero structural damage from Hurricane Andrew.
Arbor Courts of Kendall was followed by the 92 townhomes of Arbor Courts at Jacaranda in Broward County.
Parkside Village, a gated enclave of 20 luxury single-family homes next to Dante Fascell Park in South Miami, is built on the former 5-acre Shaw Nursery. The numerous specimen hardwood trees, palms, and stands of bamboo contained in the nursery were transplanted to one side of the site during development and replanted throughout the site as the homes were constructed resulting in a community of brand-new island-architecture homes with mature, lush landscapes.
The Reserve of Pinecrest is modeled after the California Courtyard archetype. The 68 condominium apartments in 6 buildings surround and overlook a tropical-landscaped paradise, including a pool and clubhouse. Parking is underground and out of sight.
Pine Manor, a 42-unit townhome development, occupies a 4-acre site between higher-density apartment/condominiums on one side and high-end single-family homes on the other, all within a short walk from the bustling South Miami commercial district. For this relatively urban site, Westway chose a housing model typified by the famous row houses of Charleston, South Carolina.
The Pine Manor townhomes, facing the 2-block long, north-south streets, are entered through their graceful, gated private gardens. The garden walls and entry gates are punctuated by indigenous Coral Rock columns. A central, gated rear drive provides access to each townhome’s 2-car carport. The architectural style is Dutch South African, inspired by the historic 1920s residential village of that style by Coral Gables’ developer, George Merrick.
The Roads Townhomes follows the principals of Pine Manor, but with modern, award-winning architecture designed by Jason Chandler, practitioner and educator – professor of architecture and former dean of the School of Architecture at Florida International University.
